Spring Clothes Swap
October 23, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Event description
With Spring flowers blooming and many of us are doing our spring cleaning, it’s the perfect time for a Spring Clothes Swap!
Teaming up with Clothes Swap & Style in collaboration with Juniper Blooms and Je Fleur, the CBR Gals Network is excited to host this indoor-outdoor sustainable fashion-meets-florals clothes swap to celebrate the season.
Clothes and flowers can both support & uplift our emotional well-being and mental health. We’re bringing the two together in Canberra’s best clothes swap of 2022! 100% of ticket sales will be donated to Black Dog Institute to support mental health research.
In Australia, around five million people experience symptoms of mental illness and roughly 60 per cent won’t seek help. Black Dog Institute turns ground-breaking research into life-saving action, making a real difference to those living with mental illness.
When it comes to fashion, Australians on average buy about 15kg of clothes every year (or 56 new items). 84% of it ends up in landfill. 1.42 billion pieces of clothing are imported into Australia every year which costs consumers $9.2 billion dollars!
Our solution to this crisis?

HOW THE SWAP WORKS
1. Please bring STRICTLY ONLY 1 – 7 items of clothing or accessories to add to the swap collection pool. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept more than 7.
2. Please note that guests can only begin taking and trying on swap items after the swap is officially declared open by the host. This will take place after the brief welcome and introduction at the beginning. After this, guests can try on and take what they like.
3. At the end of the swap, participants can choose to take home the remaining items they brought that have not been taken or they can leave them at the swap to be donated to charity.
SWAP GUIDELINES
- Clothes brought to the swap MUST be clean, good quality and in good condition: not too heavily worn out, faded, pillaged or too damaged. (Good quality also means something you would gift to your best friend). Please be mindful and considerate of what other swappers will be happy to receive 😊.
- Clothes can be handmade, retro, vintage, branded, etc.
- We can’t guarantee guests will find their sizes. It depends on what other guests bring, therefore, we encourage ALL SIZES to participate in the swap.
- Items to bring: dresses, pants, skirts, tops, shoes, bags, scarves, hats, and jewellery.
- WHAT NOT TO BRING: please do not bring underwear, pyjamas and overused workout gear. Pyjamas and swimwear are allowed only if they’re brand new, preferably with tags.
