About this event
Join us on the 6th of May from 6-9pm for an interactive evening of networking, panels, and keynote speeches, hosted at Proximity in Barton. We’ll have a rich discussion surrounding the impacts of housing and homelessness insecurity, financial factors, and tools and resources that are available.
Research into the gendered impacts of COVID-19 have demonstrated that Australian women face more insecurity compared to previous recessions, with disproportionate underemployment, unemployment, and a decrease of wages during the pandemic.
In 2020, there were over 400,000 women over 45 years in Australia alone facing a risk of homelessness.
Housing insecurity and homelessness can be improved through education of personal circumstances and financial decision-making for young women, and also education of available services and resources for women in the ACT that are struggling with housing insecurity.
Two speakers will present keynote speeches discussing tools to understand financial factors affecting housing security, and the services available to women.
The recommended ticket cost will cover nibbles and a glass of wine following the event, while we mingle in classic CBR Gals style. Complimentary tickets are available for all university students. Use code “UNI” at checkout. Terms apply.
Any money donated beyond the recommended ticket price will go to Common Ground Canberra to support those in need.
