The CBR Gals Network, presents our fifth book club event in partnership with ITP ACT. Gals, Becoming is a feminist book club that provides a safe space for gals to grow, learn, share ideas and become fuller versions of themselves. Join us over nibbles and drinks for thoughtful conversation, introspection and laughs with some like-minded gals. This month, we’re reading Rita Therese’s memoir, Come. Bold, brave, and darkly funny, Come is the extraordinary story of Melbourne sex worker Rita Therese and the love, sex, and death she has experienced in her life so far. It explores the sex industry and issues sex workers face.
The cost of this event covers food. Drinks will be available to purchase.

FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? All ages are welcome to attend. Our age ranges typically from 19 – 65. Must be 18+ to drink alcoholic beverages.
What are the conditions of the “Gals, Becoming” Book Club?
Membership and is free, but each event costs $10 to cover the cost of nibbles. Additionally, becoming a member is a monthly commitment. To become a member, attendees must:
- Attend three consecutive monthly meetings, to be held on the last Thursday of each month at a central location.
- Note: After becoming a member, attendance is required at two of every three meetings. We think it’s important for gals to consistently attend meetings in order to form close relationships with other members.
- Come to each meeting well-versed in the chosen book. Gals can “read” the book in whatever format you want, just come ready to chat about the book.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is plenty of parking but we recommend rideshare or carpool!

Is there any penalty if I RSVP and do not show up? We understand things happen last minute, but our events have limited spots. If something comes up and you don’t cancel your ticket, you will not be allowed to RSVP to our events for the rest of the month. We want every gal to have a chance for a spot!
